Would any brothers like to tell me how to paint the 'steel' color using air-brush in a proper manner.

Yesterday, i sprayed it on a model with grey surfacer and found that the color seems to be 'copper' like rather than 'steel'.

Moreover, would any brothers like to tell me about the pressure of the air-pump to spary such kind of this metallic color (i.e. large pressure or small pressure).

For steel color, I think you mean white metal color, you may need to choose between "chrome silver", "stainless", "iron", or "aluminium".

It sounds strange your steel color appears copper like after sprayed on grey surfacer.
Grey is a natural tone from which most color will not change its grade on top (given thick enough coating).
Can you show us your paint of steel color?
And also would you mind to post a picture to see the problem of the finished coating?

For spraying metallic color or pearl color, you may need a higher air pressure because of those heavy fine particles subspended with the paint.  I think between 1 bar to 2 bar setting can produce a reasonably good finish.

I see.....Mr. color no.28 "steel" color.
Mr. color no.28 is 黑鐵色 in chinese which is widely used at inner framework and joint region of robot such as Gundam.

To my experience, it is rare for this color to turn to copper like finish......
But I guess partly the reason may be the paint in the bottle was not properly mix before diluting for spray work.
This color basically is a mixture of three components, black paint + dark greenish paint + silver powder.
If the paint had been unused for a long period of time, the silver powder in most of the case would settle at the bottom layer leaving the dark greenish paint on top.
In that case if you didn't properly mix the color well, you might have used the dark greenish paint for your spray work and resulted a copper like color.

I am sorry the above is just a hypothesis without experimental proof.

Try to mix the bottle again and spray it on other unused plastic surface again to see if it is the effect you desire.
If the color doesn't come out correctly to your expectation, kindly post an image of the effect you desire and I may be able to suggest a proper color paint for you.

well...i think you mean it is abit yellowish. Since you use grey as base and your paint is thin, it will give you a yellowish tone. I suggest to use 1 paint : 2 thinner or balck as base. I used steel as the color of the internal part on all my work. I also use 70%steel + 30%sliver as higliht on top of Steel.

So no. 28 is not suitable for use alone if i want to use it for internal part...right??

U can see that the color looks like yellowish thing...but i want to have the effect just like the color as shown in the bottle...

i saw your picture and that's the steel color from Mr Color. i f you really don't like the yellowish tone, then you need to mix - sliver and metalic black. if ou don't mind using Mr hobby, it will give you the color tone you want.

I think 有heart人兄 is correct, your paint coating may be too thin to show its true color.
However, even the coating has sufficient thick, to my experience the finished coating of this steel color may still deviate from the color as shown on the bottle cap.
It is because the cap is made from PE thermoplastic which is only stained to the nearest color of the paint.
Therefore, there would be slight difference between the color of the paint coating and the plastic cap especially in the case of metallic color.
This is also the reason why most industrial paint and model paint from oversea are using metal can and cap with direct paint coating on top to show the ture paint color for selection and identification.

There is one metallic paint "Alclad II 金屬塗料" which is a very good metallic paint and can produce true metallic shine surface finish.
The "Dark Alum Magnesium" paint can produce a color similar to the color of no.28 plastic cap.
However, this paint is difficult to get, expensive, require long period of time to get completely dry and will fake off metal powder when you touch it.
I don't think it is worth to try it.

Advice by 有heart人兄 is a very good suggestion for your case since he is an experience modeler for robotic & mechanics for sure and his point is very good for metallic parts as well.

If you really want to approach the appearance of the color of the plastic cap, it is my pleasure to take trial of Mr. Hobby color for you but I am sorry I can only do it during this weekend that you may need to wait for a short period of time.

I will show you my result next week in any case but sorry I do not have a recommendation better than  有heart人兄 at this moment.
Hope other advance modelers can help in this case.

here is a picture for example...the hand is just steel #28 and the gun is steel at base and 70% steel 30% silver mixed paint for highlight.

Quickly try the effect of other dark metallic color from Mr. Hobby.

Top left: 50% no.61 "Burnt Iron" + 50% no. 101 "Smoke Gray"
Top right: 100% no.61 "Burnt Iron"
Bottom right: 100% no.28 "Steel"

Top left seems to be more close to the color as shown on the plastic cap of no.28 "Steel".
You may also vary the content of "Smoke Gray" to get lighter or darker appearance.

Heart man, would u like to tell me what is the base coat used for the hand. The color is so 'metallic'....very different compared with my painting part...
