hei bro, its not that expensive, unless you go to isetan, jusco or sogo, otherwise the shops in timesquare (KL) and lowyat plaza are only about 25% more expensive than those in HK, really not worth the shipment cost and also the risk of being damage or no chance to check if all the runner parts are intact!
i transit HK once evey 2 months, but the main reason is bcos only then do i have time to go shopping, some times i rather pay more and buy my gundam kits in KL than stuffing a huge MG box in my suit case! but tools and colour i buy in HK or Taiwan cos malaysia is about double the price!!!

i suggest you visit the online stores in HKML, some sell tools and colours which would make sense if you buy a lot and they would ship overseas too!
