By the way,  This is the tank I modeled after.  I usually check reference as much as possible when I build AFV.  I think I carry the same "problem" when I build zaku or sci-fi models haha...

The zimmerit is by Cavalier.  I usually don't scratch build unless there are no parts available (I have no patience )

Given the growing resistance of allied tanks to German anti-tank guns, plans were developed to categorically up-gun the entire range of German tanks toward the end of World War II. One possible answer was affixing the Schmalturm of the Panther Ausf. F to the Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf. J chassis. The drawing above gives a good indication of what the conversion would look like.



Unfortunately, like so many other late-war German projects, this conversion was impractical. The chassis of the panzerkampfwagen IV was severely overloaded by the schmalturm. Furhtermore, it is doubtful the turret ring of the Panzer IV would have been able to accomodate the turret unless the overhang was widended (which was suggested in one schematic). However this would have further overloaded an already burdened chassis.

I knew both of the above AFVs.  One of my friend is currently building the Panther F turret one.  I'm very interested in the Panther F turret version, however it is a big job to build.   The DML panther F's version's measurement is incorrect (too big).  So the turret must be scratch build.

I'm hoping to build the Panther D with Panzer IV H turret in the near future.  Right now I'm seriously behind on the figure painting.  I'm suppose to paint the figures for Tamiya Horch, "dog" pilots, and figures for this Ferdinand Tiger.  I keep on putting it off because it is very time consuming to paint figures... no patience right now

This unique vehicle is another from the inventory of schw. pz. j輍. Abt. 653. This chassis and hull is clearly that of a Panther Ausf. D., while the turret appears to be from a Panzer IV Ausf. G, H, or J (with the additional side armor). The vehicle was used in the command section of the unit.


This vehicle apparently has a rather long history. The first modification to the original Panther was conversion to Bergepanther. At some point it was decided to then convert the Bergepanther to a command vehicle. At this point, the Panzer IV turret was added (apparently along with the Panzer IV turret ring to replace the hull top removed to create the Bergepanther).

Yes that is the one Brother L.  I think it look must more sleek because its got a big chassis.  I have the kit to build but I still need to buy the Fruil tracks.  Hopefully by the end of this year I will finish building it.
