to eddie_ch, i haven't tried mr.hobby's pearl color yet.  but i've bought some already.  let me try try and report back later.  wave's powder is very easy to use cuz i can just spray it very lightly and it can be super thin.

thanks for the comments everyone else.  (bow)

thanks everybody for your kinda words

to smangkk, avatar個小朋友好得e

to eddie_ch, there are basically two ways to use wave's pearl powder.  one is mix it directly with mrhobby thinner.  other is mix with tamiya clear and then thin out by mrhobby thinner.

my xeku ein's pearl effect is by the first way.  in which you are basically applying the powder directly.  this will be the most effective and also make the model look more flat.

the other way through the mixture of clear, the look of the surface will be more glossy.  kind of like finger nail effect.

i think mr hobby's pearl is the easiest because it's premixed so you will not go wrong on the powder/clear mixture.  you can control the effectiveness through thinning it out and applying the amount of layers to your perference.

hope you understand.  if not i'll happily explain it in more detail.

^ yea it might worn out if you always move around with it with your hands.  so i just leave it on and dont touch it after putting it together.  you might want to spray a light coat of clear in the end to secure it.

^^ eddie, you are right, too much clear on top will disrupt the reflections = lessen the effect.

hi philipks, before answering your question, i have to tell you that i only use mr.hobby thinner to thin tamiya water base color.  i feel that this is the best combination by far.  mr.hobby's thinner is super strong, it will quickly dissolve water based paint and they mix together very very well.  as a matter of fact, i thin everything with mr.hobby thinner.  i believe a lot of experience modelers would agree on this combination.

so going back to your question, you can for sure mix wave pearl powder into mrhobby thinner, but i would prefer using tamiya clear X22 instead.  since tamiya's paint are water based, it is a lot easier to mix.

the more question the better lah~  that is one of the forum's function mah~

to saturn1984, 多謝您的comment

hey stormv, the gunze super clear you are talking about is the can spray one right? as long as the clear coat is light, it shouldn't be a problem.  your fuel tanks looks real nice, very anodized metallic look

^ in that case i think you use too much powder.  for me, i roughly used only 1/3 of a pack for one paint bottle size.  if the covering power is too great, i would thin out the super clear paint more and apply a very very light coat.

hope this help
