Joe Lo ¥S,
I have look at this link for over 20 minutes and read every reply here for you. There is no question your work is very impressive. Especially in figure painting. Which, I admire very much so.
Here are my very humble opinions:
- First thing strikes me is the subtlety, which, I like this style very much. If we see a model in real distance, everything will blend into each other.
- The diorama placement is done well. I know you have spent time to fit every figure and make "reasonable" pose.
- The addition of the horse cart is a very nice touch. One thing you can do is to improve on the wood grain, which can be done with oil filtering:
- The zimmerit and weather on the elefant is done very well too. I think your ¦Û»s¨¾ºÏ¯¾ is very much to scale.
- We will not discuss §L¥Jm, you already know. It is possible, but for presentation reason, it would be much more interesting to see differences in uniform.
- Here is one of the myth in armor building. I know alot of modelers do this but it is the result of copying each other's work. I made this mistake too. The muzzle on the WW2 German armor should not be black. By the time with the technology the muzzle is no longer blacken with gun powder. Muzzles do get black. It happens with constant firing and lack of maintainace. Which is a rare case to any army during WW2. The life span of WW2 armor is only 3~4 monthes. After that they get destroyed or go back to factory for repaint. Even when armor is not cleaned, only a slightly would happen to the muzzle. If you are interesting in this topic, I can send you some references.
- This is the commander periscopes. Dragon did a terrible job on this. You can fix it by adding styrene frame and clear styrene to fix the problem. Oh by the way, the German standard issue tie on the commander should be black.
- Make sure to strap the mess kit on the bicycle so they look like it's hanging.
- The ruin (pillar) can have more variety in color. Subtle but different. This will break up the monotonious look.
Joe Lo ¥S, ¤p§Ì d comments for you are sincere. I hope you are not offended by my straight forwardness. I'm very excited to see a serious modeler so I will give you serious comments. I decide to give my most humble and honest opinion. Please view my models with same honesty as well. for we are all here to learn.
Sincerely,
QF
